Power generator specific for Coblation®, a technology exclusively developed by ArthroCare for soft tissue ablation and blood tissue and vessel coagulation and hemostasis in arthroscopy procedures and others.
Coblation® consits in a controlled non-thermic process that uses electrical energy to excite the electrolytes in a conductive medium (such as saline solution) creating a precisely focused plasma on the target tissue whose energized particles possess sufficient energy to break organic molecular bonds and dissect or dissolve soft tissue at relatively low temperatures (generally between 20ºC and 55ºC), minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
Besides being a precious contribution to arthroscopic surgery in Traumatology and Sports Medicine, Coblation® has many applications in other fields including Non-arthroscopic Traumatology, Spine Surgery and ENT.
Through a full range of about 40 multi-electrode wands, ArthroWand® devices (“vaporizers” for arthroscopy), Coblation® system offers a unique set of solutions for any kind of pathology.
Quantum® 2 controller enables an independent setting both of ablation and coagulation. All wands also allow suction and have an automatic safety pause when close proximity to or in contact with metal, thus preserving optical systems; some of them may include a visual and audio indicator that provides accurate real-time temperature feed-back of the operative environment. Another feature of the system is the option of integrating finger switches for hand control or a wireless control footswitch accessory.
